Lancaster Canal floats John Craven's boat | 2:22 pm, 20th June, 2008 |
|
John Craven waxed lyrical about the Lancaster Canal in Countryfile Magazine. He has chosen it as one of his favourite waterways because it is excellent for birdwatching. He says it is a haven for mute swans, cygnets, tufted ducks, shellducks coots, moorhens and great crested grebe. Because the canal is close to the sea there are lots of gulls, but curlews, lapwings, Bewick's and whooper swans can be seen too. He loves the views across Morecambe Bay to the Lake District fells. |
