A view of Kendal with the castle on the top right overlooking the area to which the canal will return

The River Kent wends its way from Kendal to the sea while the dry bed of the canal follows a tortuous path northwards towards Kendal

At Stainton the in water 'remaindered' section of the canal stops at Bridge 172. The line of the filled in canal can be followed through the line of trees

The tiny hamlet of Farleton with the canal winding hole near Dukes bridge (no 155) showing the winding hole more clearly
Again from Farleton Fell looking across the M6 towards the Kent Estuary and Arnside Knott

The M6 motorway seen crossing the canal at Spinney Culvert, just north of Holme. The canal bed will have to be realigned to the east of the motorway (right on this picture) to allow for the boring of the tunnel under the motorway which will allow the passage of canal craft.
