The Lancaster Canal leaves the Leeds Liverpool and goes off on the left of the picture, but it is soon stopped short.

South of the River Ribble there was only a small part of the Lancaster Canal ever built.  This is a part of it at Whittle-le-Woods, where there is still a 'drop' of water left in the cut.
