We'll be back in action at Stainton on Sunday 9th October.
The working party there in September with WRG was very successful on the road bridge but we were unable to do the intended work on the aqueduct because the beck was running too high. After this dry spell it's back to normal and I'm hoping the forecast rain mid week doesn't amount to too much. So the plan is to do the underpinning and related tasks at the aqueduct, some repointing work at the road bridge and some finishing touches at the new landing stage, all at Stainton.
Please meet at Stainton at 9.30am or those who can make it earlier, meet at Millness yard at 9.00am to help load up equipment.
Locations; Stainton, Grid ref SD 520 854, Nearest post code LA8 0LE at the very end of the water in the canal by bridge No 172. Millness, Grid ref SD 533 831, Nearest post code LA7 7NT, on A65 just north of M6 bridge one mile NE of J36.
Bring stout footwear and wellies if poss. If you fancy the chance to don chest waders and get in the stream then some thick socks would be good too. Bring a packed lunch and a flask or cold drink. And of course wet weather clothing if necessary.
