Working Party, Sunday 11th April. Details from Paul Shaw:
The main work will be to carry on the work we started at Tewitfield during the March working party. This is completing the plinth for the new information panel, and clearing the spillways. We can supply limited tools, but if you have any of your own (spades, shovels, loppers, secateurs etc.) that you can bring with you to help with this, then feel free to.
Other work will be tidying up around the stables in preparation for the boat trips, and working on the Crooklands weir.
I’m afraid I can’t make it this weekend, so Richard Trevitt will be in charge. Can you let him know if you’ll be coming along please at trevittr@hotmail.com
The meeting point at 10 am will be at the Millness yard. This is on the A65 just south of Crooklands, where the canal crosses the M6. Coming from the South, come off the M6 at Junction 36, turn right then left at the first roundabout towards Endmoor and Crooklands. Go under the motorway and park in the area through the first gate to the left. From the North, come down the A65 from Kendal and through Crooklands. The parking area is on the right just before passing under the motorway.
If you are planning to arrive a bit later, head straight for the locks at Tewitfield. Let me know if you need directions to get there. As usual, bring your own packed lunch and refreshments. We can supply safety equipment including helmets, gloves and hi viz waistcoats, but you will need to bring your own sturdy footwear, waterproofs etc. Paul Mob:07866 803351
