Notice from British Waterways regarding Access to Sanitary Stations (Dated: 16th October, 2009) Due to an increase in the cost of purchasing the electronic fob keys for the Sanitary Stations and the installation/maintenance costs involved, a review of the system has been undertaken and as a result we have disabled the fob key system with immediate effect until the end of the Ribble Link Season (Friday 23rd October 2009). Once the Ribble Link has closed for the season, the system will be reactivated. Due to the increased costs involved the cost of a new key fob will increase to £20.00 as from April 2010. As from April 2010, customers who book passage on the Ribble Link will be offered the option of hiring a key fob for the duration of their stay for £5.00 with a refundable deposit of £20.00 on return of the key fob. In the event of the key not being returned within two weeks of the return passage, British Waterways will retain the deposit. This will allow British Waterways to manage the system more efficiently and reduce costs. Customers who already own a key fob will not be affected. |
