Exploring the old Lancaster Canal (part 2) and Walton summit

The walk is open to LCT members and non members.

Sunday May 12th  10 am start.

Length of walk 3.5 miles, 3 hours approx. Led by Nigel Hardacre.

The route is  graded medium, and good walking shoes or boots are recommended. We go mainly on footpaths and pavements that cover the route of the old Lancaster Canal, plus other local history (wharves, site of the transhipment terminus, tram road incline) from the 19th and 20th centuries. Hidden Heritage in and around a 1970’s new town of Clayton Brook.

Meet at Lord Nelson pub car park off Sandy Lane (PR6 7RD). 9.45am for a 10.00 a.m. start.

The walk finishes back at the Lord Nelson pub.
